How to Identify and Fix Errors on Your Strategy in AlgoTest?

How to Identify Errors &Receive Notifications?

To identify the errors in the AlgoTest you need to get the notification of errors in the AlgoTest. To get a notification you have to enable the error if it occurs.

Steps to Receive NotificationsError:

Step 1: First, go to the AlgoTest dashboard.

Step 2: Here on the dashboard, go to your profile and locate your Profile section in the top-right corner, as shown in the image below.

Step 3: Once you are on your profile, verify your email ID and Telegram ID as shown in the image below.

Step 4: Now you can get instant error notifications on this Email and Telegram ID.

How to Deal with Error Notification on Your Strategy?

After enabling the error notification on your strategy, you will be notified on your Email or Telegram for the strategy going into an error. To deal with such errors you have to understand the error types and their further classification. In AlgoTest errors are classified into two type’s margin-related errors and any other type of error, let’s understand these errors.

Margin-Related Errors

The AlgoTest trading software has been designed so that it can automatically square off the position of your strategy if there is a margin-related error. However, you can still verify such errors manually and process to verify the same has been listed below.

Step 1: First, go to the live trade page from the AlgoTest dashboard.

Step 2: Here you can find all your strategies under the "Deployed Strategies" section.

Step 3: Any strategy in error will have an error button next to it, just click on this button.

Step 4: You can observe the error and its cause as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 5: Here you can see the cause of the error, in the case of margin error.

Step 6: The system will automatically square off the position of your strategy.

Step 7: To proceed further you have to must verify the error manually.

Step 8: Now go to the broker terminal and verify on the "Orders" page.

Step 9: Now go to the "Positions" page to ensure that the strategy is squared off.

As per the system error detection and notification if there is margin related errors and if your strategy position is squared off at the broker end, it means you have successfully resolved the margin error. Now let’s talk about other types of errors that you can face in this Algo Trading Software.

Other Types of Errors

If an error is other than margin-related errors, you have to manually handle the error on the broker's end. Below you can find the stepwise guidance to deal with such errors.

Step 1: First, go to the live trade page from the AlgoTest dashboard.

Step 2: Here you can find all your strategies under the "Deployed Strategies" section.

Step 3: Any strategy in error will have an error button next to it, just Click on this button.

Step 4: Here you can observe the error and its causes in the section highlighted below.

Step 5: Now you can see the cause of the error here is "Session expired" which could be anything else.

If the error is anything other than margin error, then your strategy will be disconnected from the Algo. And you have to manage all your stop loss orders or pending limit orders manually. Hence, in such a case, you have to observe and note down the running leg showing the error. You can find this leg under the "Running Legs" section, and such a leg needs to deal with the broker terminal.

Step 6: After knowing the cause of the error now go to the Positions page on your broker terminal.

Step 7: Here you can see that the error leg is still running, you can either square it off or manage it manually.

Step 8: Now you have to go to the orders page on your broker terminal to check pending orders.

Step 9: Here you can see if there are any pending orders, which you have to either square off or manage manually.

How to Prevent Any Future Errors in AlgoTest?

After having an encounter with such errors, you get to know how to deal with such errors. But to avoid such errors you need to take preventive measures so that if your strategy is activated you don't encounter such errors again. Below you can find out the steps to prevent the errors in AlgoTest.

Steps to Prevent Any Future Errors:

Step 1: First go to the error button on your live trade page and go to the error page.

Step 2: Once you are on the error page, click on the 'Screenshot' button to capture a screenshot of the error.

Step 3: Now copy the Website URL and you can send this detail to AlgoTest customer support.

Step 4: Make sure, while mailing the details send the screenshot, website URL and broker name.

However, mainly you can face margin-related errors, if that occurs, your trade position will automatically square off to prevent you from any margin penalty.
